La Littorale is an international contemporary art biennale held in the city of Anglet on the Côte Basque. Its 6th edition closed last November 2nd. Some 11,000 people and nearly 3,000 students took part through visits, lectures and workshops. The release of Rivage, Rivages officially concludes the project.

Anglet’s cultural affairs deputy, Jean-Michel Barate, and exhibition curator Paul Ardenne formally open the catalogue, followed by writer, poet and video maker Frank Smith. Smith’s text analyses the complexity of the coastal landscape, a protected land and a perpetually evolving frontier, by contextualizing the eleven works, which were specifically created for this landscape. Illustrated by Frédéric Caubin, who was given total freedom by the curator, the publication closes on an exhaustive list of the works, accompanied by a note and several images for each project.

The catalogue is free and available upon request to the Direction de la culture of the city of Anglet: culture@anglet.fr
