Claire Shea

Claire Shea is a curator and writer based in London. She specialises in modern and contemporary art, sculpture and installation, public art, sculpture parks and Chinese contemporary art. Her recent exhibitions include A Beautiful Disorder, the largest exhibition of Chinese contemporary art in the United Kingdom and We have never participated for the 8th Shenzhen Sculpture Biennial.
Claire has international expertise including major projects at the State Hermitage Museum in Russia; Exhibition Road in London for the 2012 Festival and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Yinchuan, China. She has worked with large, international organisations and government bodies to commission works in Greater China, Singapore, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.
She was previously Curatorial Director of the Cass Sculpture Foundation in West Sussex, UK. Recent curatorial projects include Bold Tendencies, Thun Ceramic Residency and 8th Shenzhen Sculpture Biennial at OCAT, Shenzhen. Prior to that she worked at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and White Cube in London. She has a Master’s Degree in History of Art from the University of Glasgow. She is a native English speaker and is fluent Italian and French and has a basic comprehension of Mandarin.
