MoMA Director’s Passion for Henri Matisse

In connection with the Matisse exhibition The CutOuts, MoMA director Glenn Lowry invites us to the sculpture garden of the museum to discover Nus de dos, a series of four cast-bronze reliefs by the artist.

An extraordinary work on the body, according to Glenn Lowry:

“You can look at his cut-outs, his paintings, his sculptures. Matisse works in series, takes an idea and plays with it. You sense the amazing focus that he brings to what is the single most necessary gesture required to describe a shape. It’s a whole lesson in art making”.
