\nEvery year, Le Cyclop<\/i>, a monumental sculpture and collaborative artistic project led by Jean Tinguely and located in the forest of Milly since 1969, offers an artistic season from April to November. The 2018 edition, on the theme of the Renaissance, starts on Saturday April 7<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span> with the inauguration of a new space designed by German engineer and architect Hans-Walter M\u00fcller, who is famous for his inflatable structures. Commissioned by the CNAP<\/a> (Centre National des Arts Plastiques \u2013 French National Center for Visual Arts) as part of the commissions program for monumental public artworks, this nearly 16-foot-high \u201cinflated structure\u201d allows visitors to enter and exit the site by going through a giant air bubble that is all together a welcome booth, a ticket stand and a library. Air is what makes the structure. It gives it life, as though it were a human being that breathes and lives in harmony with the surrounding nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beaufort 2018, Contemporary Art Triennial

\nFrom\u00a0March 30th until September 30th 2018, the Belgian coast is hosting the sixth edition of Beaufort, Contemporary Art Triennial<\/i>, which displays 19 outdoor installations throughout nine coastal towns. This year\u2019s edition aspires to offer a reflection on climate change and on the vulnerability of the coastal ecosystem, but also to question the role of monuments within the public space: what is their meaning and their message in contemporary society?

Eduardo Chillida. La gravedad insistente
\n<\/i><\/span><\/a><\/strong>Les Abattoirs Mus\u00e9e – FRAC Occitanie Toulouse (France)
\nFrom April 6th until August 26th 2018
\nSince 1977, Eduardo Chillida\u2019s Comb of the Wind <\/i>(1977) emerges from the rocks of the Paseo del Tenis (now renamed Paseo Eduardo Chillida) on the bay of San Sebasti\u00e1n, In collaboration with the Fundaci\u00f3 Chillida-Pilar Belzunce, Les Abattoirs (Toulouse) offers an exhibition bringing together approximately 60 sculptures and graphic artworks from 1948 to 1999. The implication of art in the public space and in nature was one of the artist\u2019s favorite themes and is developed in this retrospective. The title of the exhibition, La gravedad insistente<\/i> (the insisting gravity), highlights the challenges of the weight of material in sculpture and of gravity, as well as the dialogue between the notions of emptiness and solidity. Photographs, previously unreleased films and a selection of posters, cutouts and collages complete the exhibition.<\/p>\n

Art Capital: Art for the Elizabeth Line<\/i><\/a><\/strong>

\n<\/span>Until May 6th, 2018
\nIn December 2018, cutting-edge construction engineering company Crossrail Limited will reach the completion of the Elizabeth line, a new railway line across London. The new line will run from Heathrow and Reading to the west, through the heart of the capital and end in Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east. Each of the nine inner city stations will host artwork commissioned by the Crossrail Art Foundation as part of the public art project Crossrail Art Programme<\/a>.
\nThe exhibition Art Capital: Art for Elizabeth Line<\/i> is presenting a corpus of\u00a0prototypes, maquettes and sketches that preceded the finalization of the project\u2019s works. The artists that have been selected are: Spencer Finch\u00a0(Paddington),\u00a0Darren Almond\u00a0(Bond Street),\u00a0Douglas Gordon\u00a0(Tottenham Court Road),\u00a0Richard Wright\u00a0(Tottenham Court Road),\u00a0Simon Periton\u00a0(Farringdon),\u00a0Yayoi Kusama\u00a0(Liverpool Street),\u00a0Conrad Shawcross\u00a0(Liverpool Street),\u00a0Chantal Joffe\u00a0(Whitechapel) and Michal Rovner\u00a0(Canary Wharf). For the occasion, Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama created her first permanent installation in England. Infinite Accumulation <\/i>is a 32-foot-high polished steel structure. This time, her famous polka dots are featured through a series of suspended spheres supported by a tubular steel structure.<\/p>\n

\n<\/i><\/span><\/a><\/strong>Rebecca Digne
\nCIAP \u00cele de Vassivi\u00e8re (France)
\nOpening ceremony Saturday\u00a0March 24th. On view until June 17th 2018
\nThe Centre International d\u2019Art et du Paysage (CIAP \u2013 International Center of Art and Landscape) regularly invites artists and researchers to reflect on the question of landscape. With the exhibition \u00c0 la hauteur de la terre, <\/i>French artist Rebecca Digne worked on geology and on the transformation of natural resources of the region of Beaumont-du-Lac, with an emphasis on forestry management. A 16mm movie filmed on the Vassivi\u00e8re island complements a corpus of ceramic sculptures. Outside, an ephemeral wooden work has been installed on the lake on which the island is located.<\/p>\n

Colour Space<\/i><\/a><\/strong>
\nDamien Hirst
\nHoughton Hall, Norfolk (England)
\n<\/span>Until July 15th, 2018
\nSucceeding Richard Serra, Damien Hirst takes over Houghton Hall, former residence of Sir Robert Walpole (1676-1745), one of Britain\u2019s prime ministers. Seven monumental sculptures occupy the gardens while a series of new paintings titled Colour Space <\/i>is installed in the rooms of the palace.<\/p>\n

Will Ryman
\n<\/span><\/a><\/strong>Festival 100%
\nParc de la Villette, Paris (France)
\nUntil September 16th, 2018
\nIn the context of the Festival 100%, a\u00a0multidisciplinary event throughout Paris, American artist Will Ryman installed three monumental sculptures in the Parc de la Villette, a wide green space that already hosts outdoor installations by Daniell Buren, Claes Oldenburg and Fabrice Hyber. Heads<\/i> is located on the Place de la Fontaine aux Lions: seven saffron-colored abstract heads 10 to 22 feet high occupy the whole piazza.
\nOn the park\u2019s lawns, at the level of the Prairie du Cercle Nord, the artist invites passers-by to wander through the Pac-Lab<\/i>, a human-sized primary-colored labyrinth reminiscing of video games, or to take a contemplative break in front of his 13-foot-high Sisyphus<\/i>, honoring the Greek mythology character who was condemned to endlessly push a boulder up a hill.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
