Founded by Francis J. Greenburger, Omi International Arts Center is mostly known for its residency programs, which host every year artists, musicians, dancers and writers. But Omi is also home to over seventy monumental sculptures spanning modern and contemporary art.<\/p>\n
The Fields Sculpture Park started in the 90\u2019s with an important long-term loan by New York art dealer Andr\u00e9 Emmerich (1924-2007). But works at Omi do not enter a permanent collection: on a rotation basis, about ten new sculptures are presented every year for a two to five-year period. Curated by Nicole Hayes, the program intends to present experimental and monumental works in a unique natural environment. Although artists-in-residence are not asked to produce works for the park, they are sometimes invited back for site-specific projects.<\/p>\n
In recent years, Omi has developed the Architecture Omi program\u00a0<\/a>meant to encourage and explore the dialogue between architecture, sculpture and landscape.<\/p>\n The park is open year around. Imagine discovering this open-air museum whilst cross-country skiing!!!<\/p>\n
